What’s Behind the Name SPA GAIT?
SPA·GAIT was named in the spring of 2021 — long before the products themselves were fully formed.
Sasha (Oleksandra Teteriuk, the founder) spent nearly a month searching for a name that could express the idea behind the brand: a new kind of comfort for the feet, one that feels thoughtful, sensory, and personal.
The project began with a clear intention.
To create footwear and leather insoles that support everyday movement and help feet feel more comfortable, present, and awake throughout the day.
Why “SPA”
From the very beginning, Sasha knew that the word Spa had to be part of the name.
It is widely understood across cultures and languages.
It carries strong associations with comfort, care, and ease.
And yes — Sasha simply loves the letter S.
SPA reflects the feeling she wanted the products to deliver: a sense of relief, attention, and everyday comfort for the feet.
Finding “GAIT”
The second part of the name took longer.
The products were designed for feet, movement, and daily walking — but none of the early combinations felt right. One evening, Sasha decided to explore English synonyms related to walking and movement.
That’s when she found the word gait.
Gait describes the way a person walks.
It speaks about rhythm, balance, and natural motion.
It felt precise, calm, and meaningful.
The name finally came together.
SPA·GAIT — comfort and movement in one phrase.
A Name That Stays With You
There is also a detail few people notice at first.
Phonetically, SPA·GAIT echoes the word spaghetti.
This unexpected similarity turned into an advantage. Spaghetti is familiar, global, and associated with pleasure and ease. From a branding perspective, this subtle mental connection makes the name easier to remember and warmer to hear.
Later, during live streams in 2025, the community noticed another association — the word “shpagat” (split or stretch in Ukrainian and Russian). While unintentional, it added another layer to the idea of flexibility and movement.
The Evolution of the Slogan
The first official slogan of the brand was:

Later, it evolved into:
Step Fresh
Both reflected the early focus on freshness, lightness, and daily comfort.
Today, the brand speaks more clearly about what it offers.

This slogan reflects the current SPA·GAIT philosophy.
The products are no longer only about freshness. They are about a deeper level of comfort.
